Project Overview
This project involved designing an instructional booklet that teaches learners how to create their own zine – from initial concept to final printed product.
A zine is a small self-published magazine often used for creative storytelling, art, or informational content. The booklet was created to provide clear, engaging, self-guided instruction for creative learners interested in exploring zine-making as an artistic or entrepreneurial activity.
My Role
I independently completed all phases of this project, including:
- Conducting learner and task analysis
- Writing instructional content and learning objectives
- Structuring instructional flow and sequencing
- Designing the booklet layout and visual presentation
- Creating supporting graphics and visual examples
- Planning assessment and evaluation strategies
Learning Objective
Learners will successfully design, print, assemble, and share a completed zine.
Learner Analysis
The instructional booklet was designed for adult learners and hobbyists interested in creative projects, DIY publishing, or handmade art. Learners may range from beginners with casual art experience to experienced artists seeking new creative outlets.
Needs Analysis
I identified a gap between learners’ interest in making zines and their uncertainty about the creation process. Many learners understand what a zine is but need guidance breaking the project into manageable steps.
